{"id":97086,"date":"2024-06-22T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-21T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=97086"},"modified":"2024-06-19T19:36:09","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T09:36:09","slug":"women-of-wit-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/women-of-wit-to\/","title":{"rendered":"Women of wit to"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GET ready for an evening of hilarity when an all-star cast of female stand-up comedians hit Bendigo for the 2024 edition of Women of Wit.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2018 the showcase has put a spotlight on the best new, emerging and established women in comedy, and this year is no different.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the lineup will be Alex Ward, who many would know from her appearances on Have You Been Paying Attention? and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala.<\/p>\n<p>Also appearing will be He Huang (Melbourne Comedy Festival All-Stars), Prue Blake (RAW Comedy winner 2021), and local comic and 2019 Class Clowns winner Patti Fawcett.<\/p>\n<p>Fawcett said having the opportunity to be on an all-female lineup is a &#8220;different vibe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a type of understanding that might not happen at other gigs,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If they experience the world as a woman as you do, or have those types of similar experiences within that industry, it can be quite refreshing to have that type of safe space to work within.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/06\/61e0b14c1afe3-scaled_52584.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival RAW Comedy competition winner, Prue Blake is on the line-up. Photo: JIM LEE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fawcett said the opportunity to see such a star-studded lineup in a regional town is a rare and exciting thing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Opportunities like this don&#8217;t come around all that often,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t speak for all of them, but I know some of the people like me on the lineup have grown up in rural places where you don&#8217;t really see comedy, let alone women comics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s quite a diverse range of styles. It&#8217;s all stand-up but everyone does it in their own way.
