HIGH-profile central Victorian photographer Brendan McCarthy will share his experiences behind the camera when he appears at Bendigo Writers’ Council’s July event.<\/p>\n

McCarthy is a multi-award-winning photographer and photojournalist with more than 30 years of industry experience.<\/p>\n

He spent two decades covering news in Bendigo and surrounds, and his work has also appeared in a range of national and international publications including Lonely Planet guidebooks, Slow magazine, Asian Geographic, National Geographic online and National Geographic textbooks.<\/p>\n

He has worked freelance since 2015 and is a regular contributor to the Times News Group.<\/p>\n

McCarthy said editorial photography is all about telling a story.<\/p>\n

“Capturing images, for me, is about covering the lives of the world’s quiet people,” he says.<\/p>\n

When he’s not working, McCarthy is happy spending his time with his dogs at his property near Castlemaine.<\/p>\n

The Explore July event will take place in Activity Room 1 at the Bendigo Library, Hargreaves Street, from 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday 31 July.<\/p>\n

The cost to attend is $10 and includes supper.<\/p>\n

Bendigo Writers’ Council sessions at the library are on the last Wednesday of each month and feature talks and presentations by writers and artists from a range of industries.<\/p>\n

Published authors and industry experts discuss diverse themes and genres including poetry, science fiction, fantasy, comedy, picture books, novel writing, blogging, script writing, copy writing, children’s literature and more.<\/p>\n
