{"id":97838,"date":"2024-07-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-25T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=97838"},"modified":"2024-07-24T16:49:11","modified_gmt":"2024-07-24T06:49:11","slug":"boost-for-first-nations-people-in-biz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/boost-for-first-nations-people-in-biz\/","title":{"rendered":"Boost for First Nations people in biz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>APPLICATIONS are now open for the new Victorian Aboriginal Business Investment Program, with grants of up to $10,000 available to businesses for training and accreditation, mentorship, networking, marketing, as well as access to expert advisory services.<\/p>\n<p>Victorian Minister for Employment Vicki Ward announced the new initiative at the Dumawul Cultural Tourism and Creative Arts Hub in Bendigo last week.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses will also be able to apply for grants of as much as $100,000 for buying new assets, planning and delivering business cases, conducting studies and specialist training.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Ward said the grants aim to help First Nations businesses grow and develop, and to help them find regional chances to create employment and boost the economy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/07\/IF8_42714-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A traditional smoking ceremony outside the Dumawul Cultural Tourism and Creative Arts Hub preceded the funding announcement.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the really great things about our First Nations businesses is that they are so diverse,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It can be cultural activities, it can be art, it can be music, it can be any range of things.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we&#8217;re looking for is to have (these) businesses be empowered to be as strong as they can.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, businesses must be Aboriginal owned and operated, they must operate in Victoria and engage with regional suppliers or have activity servicing regional areas, hold a current Australian Business Number, be registered for GST and be registered with the responsible federal or state regulator.<\/p>\n<p>Applications, which close at 5pm sharp on Friday 6 September, can be made on the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APPLICATIONS are now open for the new Victorian Aboriginal Business Investment Program, with grants of up to $10,000 available to businesses for training and accreditation, mentorship, networking, marketing, as well as access to expert advisory services.
