{"id":98206,"date":"2024-08-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-12T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=98206"},"modified":"2024-08-07T20:20:37","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T10:20:37","slug":"cycling-stories-for-bike-lovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/cycling-stories-for-bike-lovers\/","title":{"rendered":"Cycling stories for bike lovers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FILM night of the two-wheeled variety is rolling into town to grace the big screen at Eaglehawk&#8217;s Star Cinema on Wednesday 4 and Saturday 7 September.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Bike Film Night, now in its tenth year, is the brainchild of New Zealander curator Brett Cotter, which he created to celebrate cycling in all its shapes and forms.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 iteration features ten films making their Australian premieres; one Aussie and nine international movies.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cotter said these include a visually commanding film following one rider&#8217;s journey from Guatemala to Peru, a movie set in Scotland showcasing the simple joy of riding bikes, plus a &#8220;fast-paced, fun, and feminist bike race film set in Toronto.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Each year I set out with just one goal, to bring together the best cycling short films from around the world for our audiences,&#8221; Mr Cotter said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/08\/BB3_58595.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The stunning Fuego (France) follows one rider\u2019s journey from Guatemala to Peru.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;This collection is awe-inspiring and celebrates the fun, the adventure, and inspiration that bikes enable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cotter said the power of storytelling is at the forefront of what the film night offers, and the belief that the humble bicycle can improve our health, inspire, and uplift people with where it can take us. &#8220;We&#8217;re here to connect communities with stories that captivate us, stories that make us think, and most importantly of all, inspire us to get out and ride,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets to the Big Bike Film Night, which runs for approximately 150 minutes, can be purchased on Star Cinema&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A FILM night of the two-wheeled variety is rolling into town to grace the big screen at Eaglehawk&#8217;s Star Cinema on Wednesday 4 and Saturday 7 September.
