{"id":98393,"date":"2024-08-15T14:20:16","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T04:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=98393"},"modified":"2024-08-15T14:20:16","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T04:20:16","slug":"collectables-show-preserves-heritage-and-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/collectables-show-preserves-heritage-and-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Collectables show preserves heritage and history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Golden City Collectors Association Militaria &amp; Collectables Show is well established in the Central Victorian Calendar, this being their thirty-ninth annual event.<\/p>\n<p>GCCA\u2019s aim is to promote and encourage the responsible preservation of collections of historical and antique artefacts for future generations, promoting a public awareness of the importance of preserving our heritage and history.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/08\/Josefwithhisdisplay_97398.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"672\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Josef with his display.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Enhancing this year\u2019s event will be singer Suzanne O\u2019Brien whose War era tributes presented by in her WAAAF uniform complement the Militaria theme of our show.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue &amp; Grey Civil War Re-enactors have been regular participants each year, as have the Shenandoah Crew with their historic Naval display, with members of both groups dressed in period costume.<\/p>\n<p>David Howell, Kokoda tour guide and historian specialising in the history of wartime New Guinea will be selling his book<em> Kokoda Legend Captain Sam Templeton<\/em> and will be happy to share information with anyone interested in participating in walking the famous Kokoda Track.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/08\/RichardsVCDisplay_97492.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Richard&#8217;s VC display.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A feature will be a fabulous extensive display of Victoria Cross memorabilia honouring the individuals who sacrificed their lives in extraordinary acts of bravery during both world wars. There will be displays exhibited by the Bendigo Modellers with anything from individually created models to a diorama of Star Wars!<\/p>\n<p>Traders will have wares ranging from books, medals, military uniforms, sporting goods, hunting, fishing, and shooting related items, custom made knives, battlefield relics, 3D battle art, antique firearms, toy trains and soldiers, model kits and various curios.<\/p>\n<p>The Show will be held over two days, Saturday 24 August from 9am until 5pm, and Sunday 25 August 22 from 9am until 3pm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>\/\/SPONSORED CONTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Golden City Collectors Association Militaria &amp; Collectables Show is well established in the Central Victorian Calendar, this being their thirty-ninth annual event.
