IN response to demand, the Hoodoo Gurus have added Bendigo to the itinerary of their national Back to the Stoneage tour as one of a series of ten extra shows.<\/p>\n

Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre will be the venue for the first of the added dates on Wednesday 22 January.<\/p>\n

The tour marks 40 years since the band released its debut album Stoneage Romeos, which featured the hits Leilani, Tojo, My Girl\u202fand I Want You Back.<\/p>\n

It reached number 29 on the Australian Album Chart and won Best Debut Album at the 1984 Countdown Awards.<\/p>\n

Stoneage Romeos has consistently appeared in the Top 10 on almost every Top 50 and Top 100 Australian albums lists.<\/p>\n

The tour will see the band\u202fplay the\u202fStoneage Romeos\u202falbum in full, followed by a selection of hit songs.<\/p>\n

It begins in November.<\/p>\n

“Stoneage Romeos was a pivotal album for us and many of its songs have remained live favourites ever since,” founder and frontman Dave Faulkner said.<\/p>\n

“It’ll be great to play some of those less-travelled songs from it on this tour, even though that means we’ll be playing longer sets to fit everything else in as well.<\/p>\n

“To my mind that’s a win-win situation.”<\/p>\n

The Hoodoo Gurus will play the Ulumbarra Theatre in January next year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Since forming in 1981,\u202fHoodoo Gurus\u202fhave achieved 10 ARIA Top 20 albums, nine ARIA Top 40 singles and a series of multi-platinum albums.<\/p>\n

They last toured in Australia in September 2022 on the back of their most recent album Chariot of the Gods.<\/p>\n

The 2024\/25 tour ends with a show in Sydney at Selina’s in Coogee, a venue that has been a significant part of the band’s history.<\/p>\n

One of Geelong’s most successful bands, Magic Dirt, will be the support act at the Bendigo gig.<\/p>\n

The Australian tour will be preceded by a run of more than 20 dates in the United States in September.<\/p>\n
