{"id":98619,"date":"2024-09-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-31T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=98619"},"modified":"2024-08-28T18:16:58","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T08:16:58","slug":"bso-to-bring-brilliant-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/bso-to-bring-brilliant-music\/","title":{"rendered":"BSO to bring brilliant music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Bendigo Symphony Orchestra has been busily rehearsing for the third performance of its annual series in September, which will feature an extraordinary array of central Victorian musicians and composers.<\/p>\n<p>The Bravo Bendigo concert will include bassoonist John Matthews&#8217; take on three of Claude Debussy&#8217;s most popular works, which he has arranged into a breathtaking medley.<\/p>\n<p>The Orchestra is also set to perform composer and cellist Cally Bartlett&#8217;s Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre, which was commissioned by the orchestra and premiered in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will finish with Saint-Saens&#8217; Symphony No. 3 &#8211; The Organ, with one of the finest organ virtuosos in the world, Thomas Heywood, joining as guest.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/09\/BSO2_01224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Composer and cellist Cally Bartlett&#8217;s Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre is sure to be a highlight of the upcoming performance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>BSO acting president Catherine Moore said it&#8217;s an exciting time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Back in the day the most we would have at a concert would be 100 people,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Now we&#8217;re (regularly) playing to about 800 so it makes a huge difference.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re bringing this music to a whole new range of Bendigo people and they&#8217;re really enjoying it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s thrilling for them to see people they know playing brilliant music in a brilliant venue. They could be your teacher, they could be your doctor.
