LISA Chesters has been preselected as the Labor candidate for the Division of Bendigo in the upcoming Federal election, which is due to be called by 25 September next year.<\/p>\n
Though “a bit older” than she was when first elected to the House of Representatives in 2013, she said she has the same energy and drive to be a strong voice for Bendigo people.<\/p>\n
“I have the experience required to get the job done for the people of Bendigo,” she said.<\/p>\n
“I’m a local mum who loves our region and I am so proud to be a strong voice for the people of the Bendigo Electorate in the Federal Parliament. It is such an honour.<\/p>\n
“I am working to ensure Bendigo has secure jobs people can count on, thriving local businesses and an inclusive, connected community.<\/p>\n
“The diversity of the Bendigo electorate is its greatest strength.<\/p>\n
“I am also proud to be part of the Federal Labor Government. Federal Government policies, programs and laws impact in different ways across the electorate.<\/p>\n
“We are delivering a stronger, fairer future for all Australians and a future made in Australia.”<\/p>\n
After its election win in 2022, the Federal Government has put nearly $300 million into the Bendigo electorate.<\/p>\n
Ms Chesters was re-elected in 2016, 2019 and 2022, following her first win at the ballot box 11 years ago.<\/p>\n
Her electorate consists of the local government areas of Greater Bendigo and Mount Alexander, and parts of the Macedon Ranges Shire and Mitchell Shire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
