MELBOURNE\/Geelong open-access community television station Channel 31 is coming to Bendigo in a bid to recruit local and diverse content creation talent.<\/p>\n

The forum on Tuesday 24 September at the Emporium Creative Hub in Mitchell Street will cover getting started with your own self produced content, technical requirements, support and opportunities available, what the channel is looking for in its programming and how people can apply.<\/p>\n

Channel 31 producer Nick Jackson said it’s more important than ever for community TV to be present in regional Victoria and to give regional Victorians a voice to tell their story.<\/p>\n

“I’m very much looking (forward) to reaching out to the Bendigo community,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I live in Bendigo… why can’t we have community TV here?<\/p>\n

“The event that I’m going to be running is very much to ask, who’s here, who’s keen, what have you made already, what can we help you to broadcast, and what can we make in the future?<\/p>\n

“Let’s give people the opportunity to tell their stories. That’s what my intentions are.”<\/p>\n

Mr Jackson promised that if there’s enough people excited about the prospect, Channel 31 will look towards doing terrestrial broadcasts in Bendigo.<\/p>\n

“As a community broadcaster, we’re looking to represent the community and that’s very much in any way possible,” he said.<\/p>\n

“You could have a TV show on biking. You could have a cooking show. You could have a fishing show.<\/p>\n

“For some people, it could be a great supplemental thing. They’re already making 22-minute TV shows on YouTube, and we’re another avenue to be able to broadcast further afield and to broadcast to your community.”<\/p>\n
