{"id":99271,"date":"2024-10-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=99271"},"modified":"2024-10-02T19:35:55","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T09:35:55","slug":"halls-of-residence-site-gets-redevelopment-nod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/halls-of-residence-site-gets-redevelopment-nod\/","title":{"rendered":"Halls of Residence site gets redevelopment nod"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE formerly proposed local site of the Athletes Village for the now-defunct 2026 Regional Victorian Commonwealth Games in Osborne Street Flora Hill will finally be redeveloped.<\/p>\n<p>The old location of the Bendigo Teachers&#8217; College and La Trobe University Halls of Residence, is slated for around 160 new homes, including a minimum of 10 per cent of those to be confidered affordable.<\/p>\n<p>The site&#8217;s heritage-overlayed Eumana House, which was built in 1904, will be retained and incorporated into the new residences.<\/p>\n<p>Penny Forrest, the group head of Housing at Development Victoria, said in addition to increasing housing availability in Bendigo, the project will also boost the availability of affordable homes in the municipality.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Flora Hill will provide a range of lot sizes and housing types to meet current housing demands, including some social and affordable homes,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/10\/IMG_6412_32529.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"827\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Premier Jacinta Allan said the development will include affordable hosuing.
