{"id":99951,"date":"2024-10-27T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-26T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=99951"},"modified":"2024-10-24T12:28:33","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T01:28:33","slug":"bssc-year-12-art-students-show-their-wares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/bssc-year-12-art-students-show-their-wares\/","title":{"rendered":"BSSC year 12 art students show their wares"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE winning artists from Bendigo Senior Secondary College&#8217;s annual Year 12 Acquisitive Art Exhibition have been announced with awards given out for works in painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, art fashion, visual communication and media.<\/p>\n<p>The major prize recipient was Patrick Boylson, who received the La Trobe Uni Visual Arts Award.<\/p>\n<p>Hamish Johnson received the Spotlight Art Fashion Award, while Tahia Sherwood won the Margaret Standen Photography Award.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibition judge and Bendigo Art Gallery curator Emma Busowsky said her adjudication process varied for every medium, but generally speaking she looked for &#8220;something that&#8217;s been well executed, technically and formally, but also brings together the concept or the idea behind it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wanted to really understand, not just through my own subjectivity, but (also) if a student had a good concept for the work, and that it had also been executed in a very strong way technically,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It took a lot of time because I wanted to put comments on things as well and really give them something to think about.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She said the major award went to Patrick Boylson because she simply &#8220;kept coming back to it&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a really well-executed picture and it seemed very universal to me,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was obviously about referring to the universe and our small place within it.
