Alex Raineri performs in Lismore
Concert pianist Alex Raineri will perform in a partnership event between Music in the Regions and the Northern Rivers Conservatorium on Saturday, November 2.
With a fervent dedication to contemporary music, Raineri has commissioned over 70 works, given over 130 premieres, and commissioned four of the five Australian works featured within his Fairytales program.
Fairytales weaves tales of passion, loss, and beauty and showcases works by contemporary Australian composers John Rotar, Michael Bakrnčev, Katy Abbott, and Ian Whitney, culminating in Melody Eötvös’ Piano Sonata No. 2, based on the lesser-known Hans Christian Andersen tale, A Story from the Sand Dunes.
The award-winning pianist has toured extensively nationally and internationally, and 2024 included performances throughout the USA, UK, Ireland, Finland, and the Netherlands.
Raineri is a renowned harpsichordist, composer, recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician, writer, producer, and educator, and is also the Artistic Director of the annual Brisbane Music Festival and Brisbane’s inner-city music venue, FourthWall Arts.
Music in the Regions (MitR) is a young independent touring organisation connecting classical musicians with regional audiences to facilitate musical experiences across the state.
The performances tour regions not traditionally visited, reinvigorating regional venues into concert venues and fostering a vibrant, world-class classical music industry in NSW.
