Comedians come together for a cause
Organisers hope the Seriously Funny event at Bangalow A&I Hall will bring the organisation closer to its goal of planting 500,000 trees by the end of 2025.
Comedian and TV personality Harley Breen, who has appeared on TV shows such as Fisk, will also entertain the audience, and Bangalow Koala’s mascot Keith the Koala will pop in.
Bangalow Koalas president Linda Sparrow said it was the third time Jimeoin and Nolan had paired up for the event in the last few years.
“We usually do it in August or September but we’re trying to raise money to get our 500,000th tree in the ground by the end of the year,” she said.
Ms Sparrow said her team of volunteers had planted trees on Jimeoin’s property at Ewingsdale iin 2019 and that’s how she got him on board for the first fundraiser a few years ago.
“His neighbour is another landholder who’s on our committee and that’s how we got the contact originally,” she said.
Bangalow Lions Club will man the bar on the night, with well-known local family the Singhs serving up their famous curries.
There will also be an auction where members of the audience can bid for such things as stays at Sun Ranch estate and Crystalbrook Byron, a Hilary Herrmann painting, a Banya Bathhouse massage with Nolan and whale watching and kayaking tours.
Bangalow Koalas has planted 413,737 trees on properties across seven different shires in Northern NSW since 2019.
Every tree planted becomes part of what’s known as a ‘koala corridor’ that connects once-fragmented patches of habitat with newly planted stretches of foliage.
