EARLY bird tickets are now available for the iconic musical Into the Woods presented by Bangalow Theatre Company from November 22–30.

One of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular works, the spectacular marries dark comedy with musical sophistication as intersecting stories of Brother’s Grimm fairytale characters cross paths on their journeys into the woods.

The 1986 musical, based on the book by James Lapine, explores the consequences of wishes and quests. Characters from Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel and several others feature in the adventures after a witch curses a childless baker and his wife on a mission to have a family.

Driven by underlying psychological themes of child/parent relationships, infidelity and resilience in the face of hardship, Into the Woods brings to life the essence of the Grimm’s world with the dynamism of Sondheim’s music and lyrics.

Directed by Amy Skene, with orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, the tapestry of storytelling leads audiences deftly into the labyrinth. Of all the twists of chance and fate, the only certainty is to be careful what you wish for.

The Bangalow Theatre Company mounts high-quality, professional productions. The volunteer-run organisation is always looking for new faces on stage and off stage. The company is currently seeking applicants for administration, marketing, media, tech crew, design, backstage and front-of-house roles.

Into the Woods opens on Friday, November 22, and the season includes evening and matinee shows.
