THE NATIONAL Circus Festival returns to Mullumbimby with Australia’s best circus artists in a world-class program from October 4 to 6.

The three-day event sold out in 2022, and its 2024 return promises over 100 thrilling circus and cabaret events.

Discounted Early Bird Tickets, from $25 to $70 for one-day passes, are on sale until Friday, July 26, or until sold out.

The entire program will be announced on August 21, and until then, the first artist lineup release highlights three shows.

In the new work Deadset, the all-female powerhouse of Yuck Circus presents an all-Aussie Rock and Roll show and an ode to all things Kath and Kim, Bondi Rescue, and the Aussie larrikin.

In its show You & I, internationally acclaimed circus company Casus collaborates with National Circus Festival founder and circus legend Tony Rooke, juggler extraordinaire Joel Salom, and international circus stars and Spaghetti Circus alumni Bridie Hooper (Polytoxic, Reuben Kaye, Circa) and Billie Wilson-Coffey (Circa).

Fritz is a slapstick show for the kids directed by Clare Bartholomew (Die Roten Punkte) featuring clown Emile Bloom and an eccentric disappearing rabbit. Director of National Circus Festival Alice Cadwell said the team was looking forward to putting on a fabulous 2024 festival after the success of the last event.

“We are dedicated to celebrating community with a jam-packed program that’s affordable and has something for everyone,” she said.

“This festival takes circus to the next level with quality shows, giving opportunities for our emerging circus stars to present new work, and showcasing established artists from across Australia to share full-length works fresh from national tours.”

The National Circus Festival also hosts a five-day National Training Program from September 29 to October 3 for the nation’s best artists to train, collaborate and develop existing works.

The festival weekend then unfurls in multiple venues at Mullumbimby Showground from October 4.
