Stripping down and amping up
TWO of Australia’s finest blues and roots artists, Nathan Cavaleri and Hussy Hicks, are coming together in a co-headline bill at the Brunswick Picture House next month.
The Stripped Down, Amped Up tour hits the Northern Rivers on Friday, November 1 and promises a night of soaring vocals, incredible harmonies and immense guitar energy.
Cavaleri’s meteoric rise as a child prodigy was unlike any seen in Australia. At 12, he was in the centre of a bidding war between the major labels of Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna. At 16, he toured with B.B. King and played at the Kennedy Centre in front of President Clinton, Etta James and Bonnie Raitt.
In more recent years, the ABC’s Australian Story explored the singer/songwriter/guitarist’s dynamic trajectory in a poignant episode, and Cavaleri sold out his headline tour promoting the album Demons.
Now with an ABC Music record deal, he is back on the road in support of his new album Miracles, an authentic and emotional live solo show, and joining the Hussy Hicks in an exceptional meeting of musical minds.
The dynamic duo of Leesa Gentz and Julz Parker has led Hussy Hicks through a decade and a half of straddling the line between folk, blues, country, rock and roots music. From festival openers to festival favourites, the Hussy Hicks now headline major festivals and sell-out tours in Australia, Europe and the US.
They have released seven studio albums and carved out a global reputation for their emotive, energetic live shows with their trademark fiery instrumentation.
The combined talents of the trio are a unique and perfect combination in a boutique intimate room for all lovers of blues and roots music and electric live performances.
