APPLICATIONS for the Byron Bay Events and Festivals Sponsorship Fund 2025 will close on October 31. A total pool of $30,000 is available for up to 10 events.

The grant aims to support local events and festivals that have a positive impact on the environment and prioritise sustainability in event planning. The goals are not aspirational but a call to action for all event organisers.

They should aim to make a positive difference to the cultural and diverse Byron community and to enhance creativity, expression and storytelling. Event goals should maximise benefits for local business and economies as well as increasing the social benefit for residents.

Eligible applicants are required to have $20 million Public Liability insurance and reside within the Byron Shire. Organisers should also obtain relevant event approvals and consent and comply with the Council’s Single Use Packaging and Materials Policy.

Applications should meet one of the three positive economic, environmental, and social outcomes.

Environment outcomes relate to increasing effective waste management, reducing energy consumption, increasing water efficiency, implementing sustainable transport, and improving biodiversity management.

Positive social outcomes include connecting community expression and offering positive value for residents of all ages and abilities and, in addition, enabling First Nations representation, enhancing Indigenous, heritage, artistic and cultural diversity of Byron Shire, and using accessible venues or accessible locations where possible.

Positive economic outcomes would see events address seasonality and fill gaps during off-peak and shoulder seasons, activate local businesses and the night-time economy, and contribute to building an inclusive and vibrant community.

Successful funding recipients will be announced on December 4.

Applications close October 31 at 5 pm, with late submissions deemed ineligible. For information, online application and terms and conditions, visit byron.nsw.gov.au/Council/About-Byron-Shire/Grants/
