COUNTRY music legend Adam Harvey is bringing his Let the Song Take You Home Tour to Ballina on Saturday, November 2 Harvey is one of Australia’s most popular and enduring country artists with a career spanning over twenty years, 19 albums, countless accolades, and nine Golden Guitar Awards.

The release of his 17th studio album, Let the Song Take You Home, presents the opportunity to showcase new songs and back catalogue hits, feature country classics, and include a few melodic memories from the past.

Harvey spoke with this masthead on the cusp of his national tour and said he had learnt how closely related music and memories were.

“You can hear a song, which will trigger a special memory from your life, and vice versa. That’s why I called the album Let the Song Take You Home,” he said.

“I have written many of the songs, but a few cover songs on the album are special to my childhood.”

Touring can sometimes be a gruelling enterprise, and Harvey said he has become better at managing the physical and emotional demands of the road.

“It can be demanding if you go into a tour, and you’re not match fit. For the month before the tour starts, I am singing and playing guitar every day to get my voice into shape.

“I’m also getting my fitness levels back up again. The preparation makes the touring life so much easier, and you can focus on having fun and enjoying the shows.

“Kris Kristofferson once said, ‘Being on the road is the closest thing to being free’, and I think that is very true.

“You are on the road with your friends, always on the move and getting to do what you love each night.

The keen angler is looking forward to returning to the area and said the region was very special.

“I have toured Northern NSW many times, and I love it. The fishing is great, and I also love the laid-back lifestyle and the people,” he said.

“On the NSW Central Coast, we have lost that. It’s just like another suburb of Sydney now – fast-paced and so busy. It might be time to move up with you guys!” He would be welcomed with open arms.
