Ballina Council has been awarded $198,376 to upgrade Ballina Library facilities.

BALLINA Shire Council has received a significant grant to upgrade Ballina Library.

The Council has been awarded $198,376 to upgrade the library’s facilities.

The funds, part of the State Government’s $6 million Public Library Infrastructure Grant program, aim to make the library a more welcoming and versatile space.

Ballina mayor Sharon Cadwallader said the grant will significantly benefit the community.

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant, which will help us to better serve the Ballina community,” Mayor Cadwallader said.

“This funding will allow us to create a more welcoming, inclusive, and resource-rich environment for everyone who walks through our doors.”

Ballina Library has long been a community staple, providing services and programs that promote learning, creativity, and connection.

The funding will enhance the library’s facilities to better meet community needs, including updates to the front counter, new flooring, and shelving.

State Librarian Dr. Caroline Butler-Bowdon praised the NSW State Government initiative.

“Public libraries are welcoming to everyone and are such important free spaces, providing services that nourish education, literacy, culture, and recreation.”

The Public Library Infrastructure Grants program is run by the State Library of NSW on behalf of the Library Council of NSW.
