STUDENTS, teachers and even the principal got into the spirit at Bangalow Public School’s Colour Run fundraiser last week.

Children from kindergarten to Year 6 were squirted with bright powder as they took turns running around a course at Bangalow Showground, navigating a series of challenges.

Bangalow Public School principal Carol Antoun got into the fun.

“It was amazing,” assistant principal Katie-Eve Gisen said. “The sun came out for the day and the School Fun Run team set up the big inflatable arches.

“We set up the obstacle course and stations around the big showground. One of the stations was water sponging the principal, Carol Antoun, and every student was able to do that.

“We also had a dance party in the middle at the end, which was also great with music blasting and students dancing.”

The event is the student representative council’s major fundraiser for the year. Students raised more than $24,000 for the school by seeking donations, minus costs and prizes.

The money will be used to purchase class readers, library books, a portable outdoor PA system and technology and robotics for learning.

It is the third time the school has held a colour run.

“Last year we had a year off and at the end of the year the SRC students decided we needed to do it in 2025 as it was so much fun in past years,” Mrs Gisen said.

“In the lead up to the event we had milestones to reach and if we reached that, a teacher was slimed, shaving foam sponged or water sponged. The kids loved these lead-up events.

“It’s such a school community event with so many parents watching and cheering on their children. The smile on students faces and the laughter were definite highlights.”
