A VARIETY of sport and recreation activities have been given a financial boost and will be free for children as part of the state government’s Holiday Break program.

The program is aimed at young people in regional areas to help them stay active and engaged during the school holiday period.

There will be hockey, rugby union and soccer programs as well as youth festivals.

The Rainbow Roos soccer program will be held at Riverview Park, Lismore on April 23-24.

It is open to all ages with a focus on ball skills and development.

Far North Coast Hockey is hosting a multi-sports camp at Hepburn Park, Goonellabah from April 14-17.

Kids will have access to a handful of different sports with a focus on fun and participation.

The Rugby for Good clinic is back again at Byron Bay Recreation Field on April 24.

It ran over the summer holidays with another clinic at Casuarina rugby fields on April 23 between 3pm and 6pm.

Kyogle Together’s Youth Week Regional roller skating event will be held at North Lismore on April 10.

There is also the Murwillumbah Community Centre’s Youth Fest on April 12.

“It’s wonderful that local young people will be able to access these free events over the school holidays,” Lismore MP Janelle Saffin said.

“There are a range of activities on offer for our young people to get involved, have fun and maybe try something these school holidays, without any cost to families.

“This NSW Government program is all about making school holidays in regional areas more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.”

Bookings need to be made for each event with more information on the group’s Facebook pages.
