Booyung Road repair begins
BYRON Shire Council has begun work to upgrade a nearly three-kilometre section of Booyong Road.
The much-needed repairs starting at the intersection of Bangalow Road at Clunes will be to reconstruct the road and improve drainage.
Council’s Manager of Works Sam Frumpui said the community needed the long-awaited repairs.
“I know that people who use Booyong Road every day will be very pleased to hear that we are able to do this work because the section we will be improving is in very poor shape,” Frumpui said.
The $1 million project was funded by the NSW Government’s Regional Emergency Road Repair Fund.
The 2.9km road works will take approximately seven weeks until mid-March, with construction running Monday to Friday from 7 am to 5 pm.
The road will remain open to local traffic, and potentially lengthy delays at peak times are expected.
Further information about the reconstruction of Booyong Road is on the Council’s website.
