Byron Yoga Centre takes home gong
BYRON Yoga Centre has been named winner in the Yoga & Pilates Services category at the 2025 Australian Small Business Champion Awards.
Byron Yoga Centre marketing manager Cassie Leturgie accepted the award on behalf of the centre’s founder John Ogilvie and his team at The Star Sydney last Saturday night.
She said the award was a testament to the dedication of the Centre’s teachers, staff and the thousands of guests and students who have walked through its doors.
“John’s story is truly inspiring,” she said. “During a difficult time in his life, yoga became his lifeline. That experience ignited his mission to share yoga with the world, leading to the birth of Byron Yoga Centre in 1988.
“What started as a small studio has grown into one of Australia’s longest-running yoga centres.”

Ogilvie, who established the Centre after completing a program at The Buttery rehabilitation centre at Binna Burra, said the award was a reflection of the team’s passion and dedication.
“In a year that has been particularly challenging for the Byron Bay yoga community, we are honoured to continue providing a space for people to reconnect, recharge and deepen their practice,” he said.
The Centre offers a range of wellness experiences, including a Certificate IV in yoga teaching, retreats and holistic therapies and affordable accommodation. It also has a Finnish-style Cedar & Salt wood-fired sauna.
The Australian Small Business Champion Awards celebrate excellence across the retail, hospitality, services and manufacturing industries.
This year’s competition saw more than 5,500 entries across over 100 categories, with the judging process designed to recognise businesses that exemplify commitment, leadership, creativity and social responsibility.
