Calling all creators – market stallholders wanted
BYRON Twilight Market is seeking new stallholders who create their own goods – whether it’s ceramics, sculptures or sustainable fashion.
“We’re always on the lookout for stallholders who bring something fresh, original and most importantly locally made,” Byron markets manager Carl Taylor said.
“Right now, we’d love to see more artisans working in weaving, sculpture, ceramics, home-done tie-dye, candle making and upcycled or sustainable goods.
“People come to our Byron Markets for that handmade, one-of-a-kind feel, not mass-produced stuff.”
Taylor said he wants to keep that creative energy alive and make sure every stall has a story behind it.
“Sustainability is also a big focus for us, so we’re keen to support stallholders who use eco-friendly materials and processes,” he said.
“Basically, if it’s unique, made with love and fits Byron’s creative and conscious spirit, we want you here!”
Taylor said the markets have been a stepping stone for many small businesses who have gone on to open shops, launch online stores and supply their wares to boutiques.

“One of the best examples is Spell, which began right here at the Byron Markets and has since grown into an internationally recognised fashion brand,” he said.
“It just goes to show how powerful the markets can be in giving emerging brands a launchpad.”
Stallholder Miranda Denner – known as The Feather Lady – has been selling feather hair accessories at Byron Market for nearly two decades and said she loves the supportive market culture and contributing to and meeting the community.
“One of my favourite experiences I’ve had at the markets is when a woman that I had been feathering annually since she was a little girl came for hair feathers before she started chemotherapy,” she said.
“We shared deeply about her situation, then I didn’t see her again for a few years. One day she returned with her hair regrown to celebrate her recovery and get feathered again.”
