TWEED City Shopping Centre hosted Early Learning Matters Week this week, bringing together early childhood educators, parents, caregivers, and community leaders from across Australia.

Organised by Early Childhood Australia (ECA), the event aimed to highlight the crucial role of early learning in children’s development and wellbeing.

Early Learning Matters Week sought to emphasise the importance of quality early childhood education and care in laying the foundation for future success.

The week featured more than 100 events nationwide, celebrating and advocating for high-quality early learning.

By bringing together educators, parents, caregivers, and community leaders, the event fostered unity and collaboration in promoting the wellbeing of children and communities.

ECA chief executive officer Samantha Page said the week was about learning and growth.

“Early Learning Matters Week is a fantastic opportunity to showcase how high-quality, play-based early childhood education and care builds a foundation for lifelong wellbeing and achievement,” she said.

As part of the celebrations, Tweed City offered free interactive play and learning sessions, led by Bop It Tots.

This multi-sensory music and movement program is designed for young children and their caregivers, focusing on fun and fostering a natural appreciation of music, instruments, and sensory experiences.

Sessions included activities with instruments, scarves, dance ribbons, parachutes, hula hoops, bean bags, and bubbles to get children moving and engaged.

Early Learning Matters Week is a national celebration recognising the importance of early learning.
