Educators needed for NSW advisory group
Member for Lismore, Janelle Saffin is encouraging local professionals to consider the important role.
“The Education Advisory Group will provide feedback and guidance to the Parliament of NSW on its civics and citizenship education programs and resources,” she said.
“This is an opportunity for local teachers and academics to shape the civics education programs delivered by the Parliament and make sure they are of the highest standards and relevant to today’s classrooms.
The Education and Engagement team is especially seeking applicants experienced in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and educators from regional, rural and remote areas.
In addition, primary school teachers and experienced NESB teachers are being sought for the advisory group.
The advisory group will convene once a term, with meetings held virtually during school term and in person at NSW Parliament House during school holidays. The role is on a volunteer basis although sitting fees and travel allowances will be available for regional member.
“The selected members will have the opportunity to contribute their insights to make sure the Parliament’s civics programs are of the highest quality and relevant to today’s classrooms,” Saffin said.
Applications close at 11.59pm Sunday, October 27.
