Festive displays lighting the night for Christmas
THE Tweed Festive Glow Guide has returned this Christmas, allowing enthusiasts to visit dazzling Christmas displays in the region easily.
Tweed Shire Council is inviting residents to get into the festive spirit by decorating their homes and registering their displays online for the whole community to enjoy.
The interactive map was an overwhelming success in 2023. Tweed Shire Mayor Chris Cherry said the guide brought the community together and encouraged residents to make the 2024 Festive Glow Guide even bigger.
“It brought a real sense of Christmas magic to the Tweed,” Cr Cherry said.
“It was wonderful to see so many families making Christmas memories while exploring their neighbourhoods.
“We encourage people to walk or jump on their bikes to see the displays in their local area, but this year, we also suggest people take a festive adventure to connect with other towns and villages across the Tweed.
“I want to stress that we don’t want people rushing out and buying new – use what you have, borrow or share – it’s just about celebrating the festive spirit, and there’s so much of it in the Tweed,” she said.
Kingscliff resident Steve Bass said he had been decorating his front garden at Christmas since he could remember and has already registered his home on the Glow Guide.
“The kids just love it when the street lights up. I do it for them, really,” Bass said.
“Everyone gets involved, and it’s just a wonderful time of year for families.
“It’s great to be able to share the festive spirit with others and connect with people,” he said.
The community can register their home’s decorations online by adding details and uploading a photo of their display for the Tweed Festive Glow Guide interactive map, accessible on any internet or mobile device.
