NSW Premier Chris Minns and his cabinet will visit the Tweed later this month as part of the state government’s Community Cabinet program.

The forum will be held at Twin Towns on Wednesday, July 30, giving locals a chance to raise key issues directly with the Premier and senior ministers.

It is the eighth Community Cabinet since the Minns Labor Government came to power, and the third held this year following events on the South Coast and Central Coast.

Minns said the visit was an opportunity to hear directly from residents in a region that has endured major disasters in recent years.

“The North Coast, including Tweed Heads have faced a difficult few years, from historic floods, to Cyclone Alfred as well as the threat of fire ants along the Queensland border,” he said.

“It is not an exaggeration to say this part of our state is home to some of the most resilient communities in our country.

“Community Cabinets are vital in our work to ensure we deliver solutions informed by local voices, I’m looking forward to hearing firsthand about the opportunities and challenges that are front of mind on the ground.”

The free public forum will run from 12pm to 1.15pm on Level 5 at Twin Towns Clubs and Resorts. Registration is required and must be completed by Monday, July 28.

Minister for the North Coast Janelle Saffin encouraged residents to attend and share their views.

“This event is a chance for the Tweed community to meet with government leaders and help them better understand the challenges, benefits and way of life up here in Tweed,” she said.
