PACIFIC Coast Christian School in Tweed Heads has officially unveiled its new performing arts space.
The Pacific Arts Centre (PAC) is a dynamically designed contemporary space to support and develop performing arts engagement within the school and the surrounding community.
The centre was realised with an Australian Government grant of $550,000.
Federal Member for Richmond Justine Elliot opened the new centre last week.
“This funding has helped deliver a new performing arts centre with purpose-built spaces dedicated to art, theatre and music for school staff, teachers and students,” Elliot said.
“These new facilities will benefit the students currently at Pacific Coast Christian School, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.”
The PAC offers a multi-disciplinary addition to the cultural life of the school.
The first floor includes a purpose-built dance and performing space, which opens to a multi-purpose hall for viewing and connection.
On the second floor, a dedicated music space and an art room provide creative space for students.
The facility will also incorporate the multi-purpose hall for additional special events and weekend activities.
“The teachers, staff and students at Pacific Coast Christian School have built a strong and positive school community, and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Elliot said.
