Road and flood restoration works recommence across the Tweed
ROADWORKS have recommenced around the Tweed Shire after the holiday break. The Council is reminding residents to take care on the region’s roads and to allow additional time for potential delays.
The 2024/25 road resealing and patching program will continue into February 2025, including Byangum Road, Tweed Valley Way and across the shire in Pottsville, Terranora and Tyalgum.
Flood restoration road works are also in place across several sites, including Commissioners Creek. The repair of one kilometre of road reconstruction, protection works and a new causeway is expected to take five months to complete.
Other works of note include the Banora Point upgrade of the Leisure Drive, Greenway Drive and Darlington Drive intersection by early February.
Byrrill Creek Road and bridge design has been approved for funding by TfNSW. Tenders will occur in early 2025, and work is expected in March.
Flood recovery works awaiting a geotechnical report include Commissioners Creek Road, Clarrie Hall Dam Road, Reserve Creek Road, Fernvale Road, Limpinwood Valley Road, Midginbil Road, and Snake Gully in upper Burringbar.
The Byangum Road and Harwood Street intersection in Murwillumbah will be closed for night work for two nights starting on January 30 to install a high-friction surface.
The Council has received funding to restore the landslip site on Tomewin Road and is awaiting final design approval for the work planned for early 2025. The site is currently reduced to 40 km/hr.
