The Tweed’s newest celebration of culinary excellence, Savour the Tweed, has revealed its five-day program, which runs from October 30 to November 3.

Tickets are available from Saturday 27 July for the 20 events showcasing Tweed’s gourmet offerings, from First Nations storytellers and passionate chefs to distillers, brewers, baristas, cheesemakers, farmers, and artisan producers.

Tweed-based chef and author Christine Manfield, along with local food advocate Amy Colli of Straight To The Source, will curate the inaugural festival, which will feature local and visiting chefs with eight distinctive themes in venues across the region.

In Connecting with Culture Through Food, proud Bundjalung chef Mindy Woods and acclaimed chef and First Nations ally Christine Manfield present Yarung Guung Nuninj – a Welcome to Country Dinner. A yarning circle with Bundjalung elder and food culture custodian Uncle Franc sets the tone for the Jubei Chilli Crab Fest, a chilli crab feast prepared by Stanley Chinese Restaurant’s Louis Tikaram and Apex Dining’s Andelson Del Vaga.

Food for thought – Classes and Conversations brings deep learning with events like Women Leading: Author Book Chat with culinary authors Mindy Woods, Christine Manfield and Magdalena Roze with canapes and drinks by Pipit. Demystifying Seafood features Steven (Snowy) Snow of Fins, and the Cheese & Saison Brew Masterclass joins seasoned cheese monger and cheesemaker Kat Harvey with Nick Loeve from Caldera Brewing & Blending Co.

In the evenings, Dinner Events and Degustations features Tweed Food Heroes: The Producers Dinner at Bistro Livi, the Fire to Fork Feast at Potager, a communal Wood Fired Dinner Under the Stars seafood feast at Fins Plantation House, and Francisco’s Long Table Dinner.

Farm to fork – Tasting the Tweed’s Terroir is represented by Tweed River House with Hinterland on a Plate and a plant-based lunch at The Farm Kitchen in collaboration with author and TV presenter Belinda Jeffery.

The Future of Sustainable and Regenerative Food showcases Pipit’s Chef Ben Devlin collaborating with Algamarine for Sensational Seaweed: Healthy Planet, and the Raven Place Farm Open Day takes an immersive walking tour with kimchi tasting.

More family lunch events, children’s presentations, and parties abound with the closing party at No 35 Kitchen – Addio: Spuntini e Vino e Musica.

Savour the Tweed is presented by The Tweed Tourism Company and Tweed Shire Council. Tickets are on sale from July 27, 2024, via savourthetweed.com.au
