BYRON Summer of Markets has kicked off for the year, with the popular Saturday night Twilight Market making a comeback in Railway Park last weekend.

Byron Community Market manager Graham Double said the markets are popular with locals and visitors alike, offering an authentic slice of Byron Bay life.

“The markets are a true representation of Byron’s heart and soul,” he said.

“They support local artisans, musicians and creators while providing a space for the community to unite.

“It’s more than just shopping – it’s about connecting with Byron’s vibrant community.”

The Byron Community Market is Byron Bay’s original market and has been running since 1987.

The market is held in the town centre on the first Sunday of each month, with extra markets held in December and January.

“You might enjoy a delicious meal from Mel’s Picnic Chili, which offers gourmet street food, while listening to live music from Resonant Hand or Jelly Oshen,” Mr Double said.

The Byron Beachside Market takes place along the Main Beach foreshore four times a year, with the next one on January 8, followed by the Easter long weekend.

The Byron Twilight Market runs every Saturday from October until April, with performers such as folk-rock act Cheynne Murphy Duo and local singer-songwriter Hayley Grace entertaining the crowd.

“The Byron Twilight Market is the only one under the Byron Markets banner to be seasonal, through the summer months,” Mr Double said.

“This is to take full advantage of the beautiful, warm Byron summer evenings.”

There will also be extra festive markets around Christmas and New Year.
