Upgraded beach area opens at Jack Evans
TWEED has a newly upgraded central beach area at Jack Evans Boat Harbour, which is now open to the public.
The NSW Government’s Places to Swim program funded the improvements as part of Stage 3 of the Goorimahbah – Place of Stories project.
The refreshed space now provides a more accessible place for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Visitors can brave the cool water for a calm, open-ocean swim or enjoy the views of Tweed’s open green space.
Enhancements include an updated beach entrance and the replacement of timber decking with composite decking and handrails for improved access to the water.
A new large shade structure, accessible picnic facilities, and seating, including sun lounges and shade umbrellas, improve accessibility for all community members.
New landscaping, connecting paths, and bike racks make the area a haven for cyclists.
The NSW Government’s Places to Swim grant program provided $748,000 to enhance public places to enjoy water-based recreation.
The program aims to create more accessible places to swim for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
