THE Richmond Valley Woodcrafters Club is on the lookout for a new home after almost 15 years in operation at Alstonville.

They formed in 2007 when a group of dedicated volunteers wanted to form a club where they could ply their craft and share skills with each other.

Since 2011, the group have worked out of the Summerland Farm where there was enough space to form a workshop.

Part of the group who do the wood carving, will soon relocate to Wollongbar Hall, where they will meet weekly.

“Unfortunately, the Woodcrafters will live in limbo until a suitable site can be found to house the equipment necessary to recommence operation,” club president Stedroy Farrell said.

“A huge vote of thanks goes out to the Richmond Valley Community as a whole, for the support and generosity that was instrumental in seeing the club become a destination of desire for timber lovers.”

The group has been responsible for raffles and fundraising events across the region.

They have completed several restoration works including a surf reel, believed to be more than 60 years old, to the Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club.

It has been a vital hub for older people to learn new skills as well as a social and community hub.

Anyone interested in helping the club can reach them on their website at rv-wc.com.au.
