Action revs up at Lismore Speedway
THE Lismore Speedway season begins this Saturday, November 2, with a community day offering fans a closer look at the cars and drivers before racing action kicks off that evening.
The free event, running from 9–11am at John Crowther Carpark, will feature over 100 cars on display, a sausage sizzle, competitions, giveaways, and a chance to win tickets to the season opener.
Racing starts at 4.30pm at the Castrol Lismore Speedway.
On track will be V8 dirt modifieds racing in the Lord Mayor’s Cup, wingless sprints, RSA sedans, AMCA nationals and junior sedans.
Lismore Speedway promoters Mick and Kim Sauer have scheduled a bumper season, with 14 race days, 13 divisions, two NSW titles, three sprintcar events, monster trucks, and more.
“Saturday’s event has a cracking car count,” Mrs Sauer said.
“It’s a great way to start the season with over 109 cars entered.”
She said former champions Mark Robinson and Mitch Randall will put on a show in the main event, the dirt modifieds, as they battle a strong field for the honours.
It will be a big night for two female drivers from Casino, Georgia Wolfe and Indie Butcher, as they debut in the wingless sprints.
It’s the third season at the helm for the Sauers, who have set their sights firmly on providing a family-friendly event.
Mrs Sauer encouraged the community to drop into the fan appreciation day to meet the drivers, check out the cars, and learn more about speedway racing.
