J and J Rodeo set to bring Bulls to the Bay
A POPULAR bull riding and freestyle motocross show is set to return to Byron Bay in one of the first major events of the New Year.
J and J Rodeo will host Bulls in the Bay return to Red Devil Park as part of an action-packed night of entertainment on Saturday, January 4.
Fearless riders will take on the bulls in a display of skill and courage.
Categories include open, novice, junior and mini-bull events.
Some of the best bull riders in the country will be at the event along with world record holders from the freestyle motocross scene.
A lot of them come from the Nitro Circus and Crusty Demons background.
FMX world-record holder Brodie Carmichael and former professional bull rider David Kennedy have been part of previous events at Casino, Evans Head and Lismore.
The motocross riders defy gravity with flips and tricks over the rodeo chutes with pre-show and intermission entertainment.
Early shows have been a success with J and J Rodeo bringing their experience in the industry to create a unique and popular concept.
Jackson and Janaya Felton operate the rodeo business which was established at Casino.
Mr Felton is a second-generation bull rider who has represented Australia across the United States and Canada.
The pair aimed to bring bull riding motocross together to provide entertainment for the whole family.
“We have a background in the industry and we know what we do works,” Ms Felton said.
“It’s designed to be fast-paced and the action is non-stop once we get going.
“Last year’s event was next-level and this year we’re hoping to make it even bigger and better.”
There will be a dedicated family zone with rides on the mechanical bull, bouncing castle, face painting and a chance to see the animal nursery.
Country music singer Teak Fairfull will play on the night with food trucks and bar facilities.
Gates open at 4pm with kids under five free. Tickets can be purchased at outix.com/tickets with the show to start at 6pm.
