SAN CISCO is bringing their vibrant indie pop sound to regional Australia, with a highly anticipated performance in Byron Bay as part of their tour for the new album Under The Light.<\/p>\n

The band’s fifth studio album, released in March, features collaborations with producer James Ireland and contributions from artists like Jay Watson, Nicholas Allbrook, and Neal H. Pogue.<\/p>\n

Jordi Davieson said the band wanted to have a different kind of recording experience, one that was less stressful and more enjoyable.<\/p>\n

“Recording in our home studio in Fremantle allowed the process to become part of our daily lives,” Davieson said.<\/p>\n

He said the key themes of the album are love, romance, and relationships.<\/p>\n

“As well as a little bit of misunderstanding in terms of people and privilege,” he said.<\/p>\n

Davieson explained that songs came about in two different ways.<\/p>\n

He would write a verse and a chorus and bring them into the studio where they would develop them, or they would start in the studio, “bang out a demo” structure of the song, and then write melodies and lyrics to match.<\/p>\n

“Some songs were born in my living room, by me playing on the guitar, and other songs were born in the studio with all of us there,” he said.<\/p>\n

San Cisco, consisting of Davieson, Scarlett Stevens, and Josh Biondillo, has toured globally and performed at major festivals like Splendour in the Grass, Lollapalooza, and Reading & Leeds.<\/p>\n

Davieson said playing regional shows was different from playing at large concerts and that he liked them both for different reasons.<\/p>\n

“Playing a smaller intimate venue comes a bit more naturally to me, being down on the level of the audience and it being really sweaty and hot, and everyone is in each other’s face. I kinda love that.”<\/p>\n

“But then also playing festivals is an incredible thing to do and it feels kind of unreal.”<\/p>\n

Reflecting on performing in Byron, Davieson said, “I love<\/p>\n

that part of the world and feel very at home in a coastal surfing town.”<\/p>\n

“The Beach Hotel is one of my favourite venues, and we’re excited to bring our new music to our fans there.”<\/p>\n

“You meet some characters, and it’s a different level of connection compared to bigger city venues.”<\/p>\n

Davieson said that in Byron the audience could expect to hear both old favourites and new songs too.<\/p>\n

San Cisco will perform at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay on Friday, August 9, at 8:00 PM.<\/p>\n
