FROM bull riding to monster trucks \u2013 old and new will come together at the annual Alstonville Show from October 25 to 27.<\/p>\n

The event at Alstonville Showground will also include dog trials, a cattle show, horse ring events, poultry and pavilion displays, and rides. Monster truck Scruffy will wow the crowd on Saturday night, with the event culminating in a fireworks show around 8.15pm.<\/p>\n

Alstonville Agricultural Society secretary Faye Wilson said the monster truck was returning this year after missing last year.<\/p>\n

“We like to mix things up a bit so last year we had motorbikes,” she said.<\/p>\n

“There’s always a lot of interest in the pavilion entries and a lot of interest in the school exhibitions.<\/p>\n

“We also have a LEGO exhibition for both children and adults.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ms Wilson said the first show was held in 1890, with many families passing down traditions from generation to generation.<\/p>\n

“We love to put on a show for the community,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It’s the only agricultural show in the Ballina Shire.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s important for the community to be able to come to an affordable family event and that’s what the committee strives for.<\/p>\n

“We make sure there’s lots of affordable entertainment for small children like the Wildlife Twins, a dinosaur show and a petting zoo, and a jumping castle and rides for little children as well as bigger ones.<\/p>\n

“A lot of people take pride in the produce they have grown during the year; that’s on display in the pavilion.”<\/p>\n

Entry is free on Friday to make it accessible for families, with tickets costing $15 for Saturday and $8 for children aged 10 to 16, and free for those under 10.<\/p>\n
