Photos: LYN McCARTHY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Festival director J&#8217;aimee Skippon-Volke said the opening night film, which reveals how the 1973 Aquarius festival transformed the town of Nimbin and its surrounds from a dairy farming community into Australia&#8217;s counterculture capital, was the perfect fit for the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A few people wouldn&#8217;t have looked out of place walking down the main street on a Saturday night,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/10\/DelveneCornellattheB_50448.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"482\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Delvene Delaney at the BBFF opening party at OTHERWORLD Byron Bay.
