NEW federal funding will enhance road and community infrastructure across Richmond, backing key projects in Tweed and Byron Shires that focus on improving road safety and community facilities.<\/p>\n
Richmond MP Justine Elliot said she is proud to deliver this support to the local area, noting its impact across the North Coast.<\/p>\n
“These important funding increases from the Albanese Government have made many local projects a reality right across the North Coast,” Elliot said.<\/p>\n
The funding will support Tweed Shire Council with more than $15.9 million, and Byron Shire Council with over $6.4 million.<\/p>\n
Both councils will use these funds to upgrade critical local roads and improve resilience in areas affected by flooding, including projects focused on intersections, drainage, and bus stop safety.<\/p>\n
Upgrades already underway include the $673,076 improvements to Rifle Range Road in Bangalow and $1.5 million for surface work on Ducat Street in Tweed Heads. Byron Shire is also receiving $500,000 to widen and improve drainage on Bayshore Drive in Byron Bay.<\/p>\n
The Federal Government funding extends beyond roads, with $618,869 allocated to the Mullum SEED Eco Hub in Mullumbimby.<\/p>\n
This community project includes new facilities like a Men’s Shed, environmental centre, and community kitchen to boost local engagement opportunities.<\/p>\n
