{"id":106123,"date":"2024-12-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/?p=106123"},"modified":"2024-12-17T23:20:41","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T12:20:41","slug":"full-field-for-speedway-series-on-boxing-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/sport\/full-field-for-speedway-series-on-boxing-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Full field for speedway series on Boxing Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FULL field of drivers will contest the annual Mr Modified Series at Lismore Speedway on Boxing Day.<\/p>\n<p>It is the second round of the series and one of the biggest sporting events in the region during the holiday period.<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of the night will be the return of Mick Turner, who is back racing in the division for the first time in almost 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>He finished runner-up three years in a row at the Australian championships between 1993 and 1995.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, he has raced in the sprintcar division and now has his sights set on one of the most prestigious events on the calendar.<\/p>\n<p>The likes of Kevin Britten, David Clark, Andrew Pezzutti and Mitch Randall have had success in the V8 Dirt Modified division.<\/p>\n<p>Clark is the current national champion and will look to defend his title at the Australian championships in February.<\/p>\n<p>Local drivers Trent Scofield, Mark Robinson and Brock Armstrong were the top three finishers in the first round of the series at Grafton earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Other divisions on the night include wingless sprints, AMCA nationals, RSA sedans and junior sedans.<\/p>\n<p>Boxing Day is the first event of the Smokin&#8217; Hot Summer Series, with a busy few months ahead at Lismore Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>Sprintcars take centre stage on January 8 with the modified sedans, modlites and monster trucks on January 11.<\/p>\n<p>The season culminates over two nights in June with the Chilly Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for all events can be purchased at <a href=\"http:\/\/lismorespeedway.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lismorespeedway.com.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gates open on Boxing Day at 4pm, with kids under 12 admitted free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A FULL field of drivers will contest the annual Mr Modified Series at Lismore Speedway on Boxing Day.
