THE NSW Government has extended its deadline for feedback on its draft Recycled Water Roadmap, which aims to build more sustainable and resilient water supplies for the future.<\/p>\n

The draft roadmap outlines a vision for expanding water reuse throughout the state where it is safe, beneficial, and cost-effective, ensuring policy and regulatory framework is in place for future projects.<\/p>\n

Ashraf El-Sherbini, from the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water said there has been huge interest in the draft Recycled Water Roadmap.<\/p>\n

“Water utilities across NSW are currently engaging with customers at the grassroots level to get a greater understanding of their preferences on the use of recycled water, including the potential to add purified recycled water to future drinking water supplies.”<\/p>\n

The public exhibition period began on October 28, gathering views from a wide range of stakeholders including local water utilities, industry, Aboriginal communities and environmental groups.<\/p>\n

The public exhibition deadline has been extended to January 10, 2025 to give people more time to address the complex issue.<\/p>\n

“Extending the public exhibition period will give us an even better picture of the landscape and the best ways to move forward with this plan,” Mr El-Sherbini said.<\/p>\n

Feedback will be compiled into a What We Heard report that will be published before the Recycled Water Roadmap is finalised later in 2025.<\/p>\n
