{"id":106728,"date":"2025-01-11T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-10T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/?p=106728"},"modified":"2025-01-08T18:55:11","modified_gmt":"2025-01-08T07:55:11","slug":"wrestlers-set-to-fly-high-at-summer-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/wrestlers-set-to-fly-high-at-summer-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Wrestlers set to fly high at summer show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HIGH-FLYING, body-slamming action returns to the region as International Wrestling Australia (IWA) brings its summer tour to Club Evans RSL on Sunday, January 12.<\/p>\n<p>IWA director Rob Oxley said the event, featuring heavyweight bouts, tag teams, and daredevil stunts, is expected to draw fans from Ballina, Lismore, and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had plenty of interest the last time we came to Ballina and we know people will travel to see us,&#8221; Oxley said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a chance for people to see the best wrestlers in Australia on one of our biggest regional tours.&#8221;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>IWA, the longest-running professional wrestling company in Australia, has been staging shows for over 25 years. The family-friendly events combine dramatic storytelling with action-packed wrestling, including daredevil stunts and top-rope leaps.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/01\/0D9A0131-Enhanced-NR_93291.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"384\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The IWA will bring a bumper night of competition to its summer show in the region. Photo: SARAH NEWMAN.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our best wrestlers are the ones who bring their own personality and dial it up to 11,&#8221; Oxley said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wrestling allows people to be an extension of themselves and they can make the people either love or hate them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Current champion Jimmy Townsend and standout female wrestler Rita Stone will headline the show.
