RESIDENTS impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred are urged to check their eligibility for disaster assistance, with financial support available for individuals, businesses, and community organisations.<\/p>\n

NSW parliamentary secretary for disaster recovery and Lismore MP Janelle Saffin encouraged people to apply for aid under state and federal programs.<\/p>\n

“If you live in Lismore City, Tweed Shire, Byron Shire hinterland, Kyogle or Tenterfield Shire \u2014 disaster declared local government areas within the Lismore Electorate \u2014 check your eligibility and apply for financial support to get back on your feet.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A range of financial aid programs are available to help affected communities recover.<\/p>\n

The Personal Hardship Assistance Grant offers up to $900 per family for essential costs such as food, clothing, and accommodation. The Disaster Relief Grant assists low-income earners with uninhabitable homes not covered by insurance.<\/p>\n

Workers and sole traders can apply for the Disaster Recovery Allowance, providing up to 13 weeks of support. Primary producers and small businesses in disaster-declared areas can access concessional loans up to $130,000, while farmers may be eligible for transport subsidies up to $15,000.<\/p>\n

A $15 million Community Recovery Support Fund has been established to help councils clean up and restore community assets.<\/p>\n

“I thank the NSW Premier Chris Minns and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, together with responsible ministers, for moving quickly to ensure timely disaster declarations and early assistance,” Saffin said.<\/p>\n

Lismore, Kyogle, Tweed, Byron, and Tenterfield councils are among those eligible for up to $1 million each under the scheme.<\/p>\n
