HOLIDAYMAKERS are being urged to stay safe on the North Coast as beach remediation works continue in the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.<\/p>\n
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is encouraging both locals and tourists to enjoy the region over the Easter break while remaining aware of ongoing recovery efforts.<\/p>\n
Recovery coordinator superintendent Scott Tanner has been travelling across the region ahead of the holidays, inspecting beaches and waterways.<\/p>\n
“While the recovery from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred is continuing, the North Coast is open for business, and we want everyone to come and enjoy this beautiful region,” Tanner said.<\/p>\n
“While these world-class beaches have lost some sand, we’re ready for people to experience them along with the waterways, green spaces, vibrant businesses, and all this region has to offer. We want you to keep coming back to visit.”<\/p>\n
The authority has issued safety advice for holidaymakers, including watching your step on sand dunes and shorelines, swimming only at patrolled beaches between the flags, and following local council advice on beach conditions.<\/p>\n
It also reminded visitors to heed beach closures and consider exploring other coastal areas that remain open and safe.<\/p>\n
Local councils and the Reconstruction Authority will continue remediation work on parts of the coastline during the holiday period.<\/p>\n
“We’re just reminding people to be careful, as while the beaches, waterways and green spaces may be open, there’s still work to be done to get them back to where they were before the storms.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
