Photo: DAVID COPE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some were really slick, and others were more creative and quirky. There were young people and 90-year-olds all looking fabulous. It was such a buzzy night \u2014 it felt like there was a real need to have a big party.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The event at Bangalow A&amp;I Hall capped off a vibrant program of screenings. While acclaimed filmmaker Rolf de Heer was unable to attend the showing of his multi-award-winning film The Tracker due to a back injury, he provided a pre-recorded introduction and joined a panel discussion via video link.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/05\/DavidBeemanandChryss_03169.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Beeman and Chryss Carr from Vampt Vintage Design at the Bangalow Film Festival closing night party. Photo: DAVID COPE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Former 730 host Kerry O&#8217;Brien also attended to introduce No Other Land, the Oscar-winning documentary about the destruction of Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank by Israeli forces.<\/p>\n<p>Director Mara Jean Quinn was on hand for the screening of Andamooka, her film about a woman&#8217;s 30th birthday in the remote opal mining town. Photo: OLIVIA KATZ<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mark Swivel, principal of Barefoot Law, introduced I Am the River, The River is Me, a documentary about New Zealand&#8217;s Whanganui River, created in close collaboration with its M\u0101ori custodians.<\/p>\n<p>One of the festival&#8217;s most moving moments came courtesy of visiting M\u0101ori artist Whaia, who has spoken at several UN events, who spontaneously offered to speak before the screening. &#8220;She ended up singing a song in M\u0101ori,&#8221; Pazzaglia said. &#8220;People were crying; it was incredible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/05\/MeeraMcgarryandIrfaa_10440.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Meera Mcgarry and Irfaan Jefha from Bangalow Wellness Hub, who were sponsors of the event, at the Bangalow Film Festival.
