BYRON Community Market will temporarily move to the Main Beach foreshore while essential drainage works are carried out in the town centre.<\/p>\n

Traditionally held on the first Sunday of each month, the market will remain at this temporary location until further notice.<\/p>\n

A return date to its usual home along Jonson Street and Railway Park has not yet been confirmed.<\/p>\n

The relocation is necessary due to major drainage upgrades being undertaken by Byron Shire Council in the Byron Bay CBD. The project aims to reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall, which has long impacted local businesses and residents.<\/p>\n

The works include potholing, geotechnical investigations and the design and construction of a new drainage system. Key areas targeted for flood mitigation include the town centre and nearby Cowper and Shirley Streets.<\/p>\n

The project will be delivered in stages, aligned with available funding and planned to minimise disruption to the community.<\/p>\n

The initiative is supported by joint funding from the Australian Government’s Emergency Response Fund, and the Infrastructure Betterment Fund, provided by both the Australian and NSW Governments.<\/p>\n

The Byron Markets team is working closely with stallholders to ensure a smooth transition, with all vendors informed and supported throughout the relocation process.<\/p>\n

The move isn’t too much of a stretch for the team, with the Byron Beachside Market held at the foreshore four times a year.<\/p>\n

The Byron Twilight Market will not be affected by this change and will continue to operate in Railway Park from October 2025 through to April 2026.<\/p>\n

The first market at the new Main Beach foreshore location will take place on Sunday July 6 from 8am to 2pm.<\/p>\n
