LIVE music, art and family activities will fill the Tweed Regional Museum precinct on September 6 when the Street Party returns.<\/p>\n

The free event will run from 3pm to 9pm in the Museum precinct, with food stalls, workshops, roaming performers and after-hours entry to the museum.<\/p>\n

Tweed Regional Museum director, Molly Green, said the event had quickly become part of the region’s cultural calendar.<\/p>\n

“In only a few years, the Street Party has become a fixture on the cultural calendar. It’s our way of celebrating everything that makes the Tweed special \u2013 its stories, its spirit and its sense of community,” Green said.<\/p>\n

“This year we’ve shaken things up with a fresh program designed to take you from low-key afternoon vibes through to an electric evening of live music and fun.”<\/p>\n

The main stage will feature acts including Dennis, Blind Corners and Amber Rose.<\/p>\n

Art and creative activities will include an inflatable flowers installation by Matthew Aberline, a drop-in drawing booth with Madeline White, weaving and charm-making workshops, brick making with Belinda Smith and cultural talks with Uncle Franc Krasna on the Six Seasons Cultural Calendar. Children’s entertainment will feature a street party adventure game, face painting, a chalk wall, silent disco and more.<\/p>\n

The event will also have a bar run by Earth Brewery and a food zone with local dishes and desserts.<\/p>\n

The Museum on Wheels travelling display will be on site with native plant giveaways and sensory boxes.<\/p>\n

Inside, visitors can see the Speak Easy exhibition, which explores the history of communication technology from Morse code to mobile phones.<\/p>\n

Entry is free, but bookings are recommended to receive updates on the full program at museum.tweed.nsw.gov.au\/street-party<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event is supported by the NSW Government through the Open Streets Program, which has provided $350,000 in multi-year funding for the event to run annually over the next three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
