SURFING Australia will expand female participation and leadership programs under a new three-year deal with NRMA Insurance.<\/p>\n
The agreement secures platinum backing for initiatives including Seas The Day, the world’s largest women’s surf festival held at Kingscliff, and the RISE program, which develops pathways for women in coaching, boardrider clubs and leadership.<\/p>\n
It also supports SurfGroms and Teen Groms, introducing thousands of children to the sport and ocean safety each year.<\/p>\n
Surfing Australia chief executive Chris Mater said the expanded partnership would help build inclusion across the sport.<\/p>\n
“This expanded partnership marks a huge step forward for grassroots and women’s surfing in Australia,” Mater said.<\/p>\n
“NRMA Insurance has shown they’re not just investing in events; they’re investing in people and communities.<\/p>\n
From young groms learning water safety for the first time, to women stepping into the surf community with confidence, this support is helping us build a stronger, more inclusive future for Australian surfing.”<\/p>\n
The insurer, already presenting partner of the Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final, will continue that role while broadening support to women’s and youth initiatives.<\/p>\n
Executive manager Luke Farrell said the company wanted to back programs that strengthen communities.<\/p>\n
“Our broadened partnership with Surfing Australia enables us to reach new audiences and make a real impact \u2013 fostering active lifestyles and equipping young participants with vital safety skills while creating inclusive opportunities for women across the sport,” Farrell said.<\/p>\n
