FEDERAL MP Justine Elliot has joined Rotary members from across the North Coast to launch the 2025 Rotary ‘Say No to Domestic and Family Violence’ campaign in Tweed Heads.<\/p>\n
The initiative is part of the global 16 Days of Activism campaign, which runs from November<\/p>\n
25 to December 10 each year and calls for an end to gender-based violence.<\/p>\n
Since 2018, Rotary clubs in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands have worked together to raise awareness and support education programs to help communities identify, reduce and prevent domestic violence.<\/p>\n
Elliot said the grassroots campaign, which began in Ballina, was an example of community leadership encouraging respectful relationships.<\/p>\n
“As part of this campaign Rotary clubs will be holding walks, runs and bike rides to help make the voices of domestic violence survivors heard,” she said.<\/p>\n
“The 16 Days of Activism provides an important moment for us to reflect on the ways we can all work together, but of course this resolve must be year-round.”<\/p>\n
Elliot acknowledged Rotary Ballina member Dave Harmon and other volunteers for their commitment to the cause.<\/p>\n
